Tuonnela was my first venture into exploring death from the perspective of sustainability. This project examines how Finnish cemeteries could better cater to multi-species cohabitation, and be a hot spot for biodiversity.
Through interviews with cemetery stakeholders as well as city planners our team composed a list of possible changes to implement. The list gives options for cemetery visitors, cemetery mainenance and people wanting to establish a new cemetery to incorporate sustainability as a core value in death.
